In 1974 A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada's ISKCON movement in France was rapidly expanding. Srila Prabhupada has told the local management to purchase a land for a Krishna Conscious farm. Before purchasing the land Srila Prabhupada personally came to see the new ISKCON farm. It was a castle (completed in 1905) with 86 hectares of land. In 1975 Srila Prabhupada returned and spent some days in New Mayapur. That same year, on the auspicious day of the disappearance of Srila Prabhupada's spiritual master Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami, the beautiful Gaura Nitai deities were installed.

Srila Prabhupada returned to New Mayapur in 1976 for the Balarama Jayanti festival. On the day of Balarama Jayanti Krishna Balarama deities were installed. Srila Prabhupada was present for the ceremony. Srila Prabhupada's quarters are well preserved. One big room, bedroom and bathroom with many items that Prabhupada used are preserved here. On Janmastami in 1979 beautiful Radha Govinda Madhava were installed. Same year for the Nrisimha Caturdasi festival Laxmi Nrisimha deity was installed.

On the altar we can also see two Goverdhana Shilas. The big Goverdhana Shila was given to the temple by Srila Prabhupada. A man brought to Srila Prabhupada a stone, he gave it to Srila Prbahupada. Just before Prabhupada's deiparture, he has given the Sila to the temple. The small Goverdhana Sila was entrusted to Nrisimhananda Prabhu by Indradyumna Swami who was the president of New Mayapura for four years. Nrisimhananda is Indradyumna Swami's first initiated disciple and is a loyal pujari in New Mayapur for more than 30 years. This Shila is special because Indradyumna Swami received it in Jagadananda Pandit's house which is still preserved in Jagannatha Puri.
